A Wichita man was sentenced to more than 15 years after a dispute over a dog led to the beating death of another man.
Wednesday afternoon, a judge sentenced Samuel J. Sims to 184 months in the death of John Tolliver in July of 2011. He had previously pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
Police say Sims and another man, Nelson Glover, beat Tolliver because of a dispute between Tolliver and his ex-girlfriend over possession of a dog.
In December, Glover also pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Glover will be sentenced Jan. 24.
