A woman who may be Wichita’s last link with the holocaust has died.
Esther Zelman Moses, who spent two years in the Auschwitz Concentration camp in World War II passed away last night. She was an iconic figure at her clothing store, names for her father, on East Douglas. Zelman’s Clothing was a long-time East Douglas business.
Many Wichitian’s knew her as she sat in her chair in front of the store during the warm months. She met her husband in a liberation camp after she was liberated from Auschwitz.
Coming to Wichita in the 1940’s she raised he family here, but became an East Douglas icon because of her experiences.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21st, at Downing and Lahey East Chapel, 6555 E. Central, at 1:00 PM. Internment will follow at the Hebrew Congregation Cemetery.
Esther Zelman Moses was 90-years-old.
