Authorities in Russell County have recovered the body of a Hoisington man who went missing Saturday evening at Wilson Lake.
Russell County Sheriff John Fletcher said the report came in around 8:45 p.m. from the Rock Town area of the lake.
It was reported that a 38-year-old Hoisington man had tried to swim across one of the coves in the area after the boat he was on had mechanical problems.
The two people who remained on the boat told authorities that the man went under the water and did not resurface. The search was called of late last night but resumed at daylight.
Using sonar, the man's body was found and pulled from the lake around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
"Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the drowning," Fletcher said.
The man's name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
