The Hutchinson Police Department has issued a warning about a text message scam that's making its way through the area.
Investigators say they have taken numerous reports from residents who have received text messages about a problem with their bank account. The message prompts the recipient to call (561) 232-3007. That number directs callers to an automated system were they are asked to provide their bank card numbers.
Officials say the text is originating from out of state and is being investigated as a scam. Anyone who receives this message is encouraged not to call the number. If you feel there is a problem with your bank card you should contact your bank directly.
