The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the shooting.

A Salina police officer was shot in the face during a standoff that lasted several hours. The officer was taken to a Wichita medical center for treatment. Officer Charleton "Chuck" Huen has been transferred to a facility in Oklahoma City, where he is in stable condition. He's a ten-year veteran of the police force.
Officers were called to a report of a stolen vehicle Thursday night before 11:30. A few minutes later, the car was reporter behind a home at 308 N. 13th. Officers arrived and were told the suspect was in the basement, possibly armed with a handgun.
Five officers entered the house after attempts to contact the suspect failed. Police said the suspect, Marijon Gadson, fired shots at the officers, striking Huen in the face. One officer returned fire. Officers backed out of the house and called for an ambulance.
After several attempts to talk with Gadson, teargas was thrown into the home. The Special Response Team found Gadson dead in the basement. Investigators do not know if Gadson shot himself or was killed by the officer's bullet.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
