Inter-Faith Ministries is warning about a possible scam that uses the Operation Holiday name to trick people out of personal information.

In a news release Thursday, Inter-Faith said a person contacted the organization to report someone had called on the telephone, claiming to represent Operation Holiday. The caller offered to take the other person's Operation Holiday application over the phone.

Inter-Faith Ministries spokeswoman Sandra Harrison said in the release that applications cannot be submitted over the phone. All applicants must show the necessary paperwork in-person to file an application.

The Inter-Faith release said anybody offering to take an Operation Holiday application over the phone is not a representative of the charity and anybody receiving these calls should not provide the caller with any personal information about themselves or their family members.
