Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in a head on crash in Reno County Thursday afternoon, as 22 year old Michael Benert.
Troopers say Benert is from Arkansas, but was staying with his grandparents in Kansas.
Part of K-96 near Roy Smith Rd. was closed for several hours Thursday as KHP troopers investigated the crash. It opened back up at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday night.

One person is dead following a head-on crash in northwest Reno County.
A semi truck and van collided one mile east of Nickerson on K-96 at about 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
According to Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson, both vehicles were on fire when emergency crews arrived.
The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Sheriff Henderson said raffic has been shut down on K-96 at Riverton Road and Royal Smith Road. That area of K-96 could be closed for several hours.
