An El Dorado mother who was set to go to trial for the murder of her daughter may now change her plea.
Alyssa Haag is charged with first-degree murder in the March 2012 death of 18-month-old Jayla Haag. She was scheduled to go to trial on Tuesday but now has a new plea hearing set for March 15. Haag had previously entered a plea of not guilty.
Jayla Haag died of injuries prosecutors say were the result of child abuse. Officials say the girl sustained bruises all over her body, had multiple burn scars and most of her bottom teeth had been forcibly removed.
Justin Edwards, Haag's boyfriend, was initially charged with first-degree murder in the child's death but that charge was later dropped.
