The owners of two golf courses and a country club in western Lawrence are selling the property.
Bob Johnson, chairman of the board of directors for Alvamar
Inc., says the asking price is $6.5 million.
The Lawrence Journal-World reported that Alvamar recreational
assets were put up for sale two weeks ago to give 120 shareholders
a chance to liquidate their investments. Johnson says many of the
shareholders have reached retirement age and are ready to move on.
The sale does not include 165 acres of land Alvamar owns on the
west side of Lawrence.
Bob McKinney, chairman of Alvamar's executive committee, says
the recreational assets had more marketablity than the land
parcels.
Alvamar has 70 full-time employees.
