One man was killed and two others were critically injured in a rollover crash after evading police in west Hutchinson. It happened just after 9:30 p.m. Friday at Hendricks Street and West 1st Avenue.

Authorities say an officer observed a Kia SUV driving west on 1st Avenue at a high rate of speed. The officer turned in behind the vehicle and tried to catch up, but lost it.

Soon after, there was a report of an injury accident at Hendricks and 1st Avenue.

When emergency crews arrived on scene, they discovered the vehicle police were looking for had failed to negotiate a curve, hit a short concrete structure and rolled several times, coming to rest in a field. All three occupants had been ejected.

Courtney Morgan, 37, of Hutchinson, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Keith Massey, 31, of Kansas City, and an unidentified man were flown to a Wichita hospital with critical injuries. Their currently conditions are unknown.

The incident is under investigation. No other information has been released.
