ARKANSAS CITY, Kan.--- Cowley College has made the decision to drop its men and women’s soccer programs effective immediately.
In a news release the college said the move was made due to budgetary considerations and a recent evaluation of the school’s athletic programs.
"Unfortunately, due to budget considerations, we had to make that difficult decision to drop our men's and women's soccer programs," said Rama Peroo, Cowley College public relations director.
The student-athletes affected by this decision will be released from their letters of intent and Cowley College will assist them in finding a new school.
Peroo said men's coach Roberto Dos Santos and women's coach Dane Straight will remain on the Cowley College staff until the end of the semester.
The Tiger soccer teams were formed in 2008 and spent six seasons as a member of the Jayhawk Conference.
