Chase Suspect Shot In Junction City

A suspect is hospitalized after he was shot while trying to take a detective's gun. It began Friday morning when Geary County officials say a deputy tried to pull over a man for several traffic violations, shortly after 11 o'clock.
WIBW reports that the suspect lead the deputy on a chase before finally abandoning the vehicle on the south side of Junction City. The deputy then traded gunshots with the suspect who fled to a nearby motel.
Authorities were able to locate the suspect a short time later and a foot chase ensued. WIBW says the suspect was shot by an officer after he tried to take a detective's gun.
He is being treated at the Geary County Community Hospital. The KBI is currently involved in the investigation.
