A 17-year-old Goddard High student suffered only minor injuries after an early morning crash in western Sedgwick County.
The teen was on his way to school around 7:30 Thursday morning in the 27000 block of West 15th Street South when his truck left the roadway, struck a guardrail, overturned and landed upside-down in a creek.
The teen was in the water for a brief period of time, but managed to climb out. EMS checked him once they arrived, but he refused a trip to a hospital.
The crash is under investigation, but deputies believe he may have fallen asleep because he initially told them he didn't remember striking the guardrail.
