Bank In Small Kansas Town Robbed

Rice County authorities and the FBI are searching for the man who held up a bank in Chase, Kansas.

The holdup at the First Bank of Chase was reported at 10:20 a.m. Today.

According to law enforcement, a man walked into the bank and got in line. When he got to the front of the line, he put a purse on the counter and pulled out a small handgun and a trash bag. He ordered the teller to fill the bag, and eventually jumped over the counter to fill the remainder of the bag himself.

The man was seen leaving the bank in a Green SUV, driving eastbound on K-96.

The robber is described as a black man in his mid-30s, approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall, with dreadlocks that was possibly a wig. He was wearing a long coat. He drove away in a green SUV.

There were two customers and two employees inside the bank at the time of the robbery.

Chase is a town of 500 people. It is west of Lyons on US Highway 56.
