It was one of the greatest wars in history and aviation played a big part of winning the war for the United States.

Three planes that flew during World War II are reliving their glory days, on tour across the country. This week the Wings of Freedom tour landed in Salina, and will be in Wichita over the weekend.

"Coming today, it brings back a lot of memories," said WWII veteran Edgar Fischer.

There's the Looker, the P-51 C Mustang, B-24 Liberator and B-17 Flying Fortress.

"For aviation enthusiasts, there's no introduction needed for the B-51 C Mustang, it's probably the iconic fighter for World War II," Harley said.

"Well I come out I wanted to ride this B-17 in honor of my brother that flew 50 missions," said WWII veteran Tom Brown.

Mike Cotton was also there to honor his brother, who died after his plane went down.

"My brother flew these," Cotton said. "It's a little tough."

The traveling aircrafts provide a glance at history for the young, and an opportunity to reminisce for those who experienced the war first hand.

A flight experience on the Bombers cost $425 dollars. But a half-hour ride on the Mustangs will run $2,200.
