Spirit Aerosystems will build the fuselage for the new Bll V-280 Valor tiltrotor aircraft.
the V-280 is the third-generation tiltrotor aircraft which began with the V-22 Osprey, developed for the military by Bell Helicopter and Boeing. The aircraft can take off an land like a helicopter. Once in the air, it's props tilt forward, providing the capabilities of a fast propeller plane.
In a news release from Bell, the company says the V-280 will have twice the speed and range of the US Army's current fleet and will serve a variety of roles, from fast troop transport to medical evacuations.
Bell Hellicopter is a subsidiary of Textron, the parent company of Cessna.
