A small plane that made an emergency landing near Cheney Lake Wednesday was testing a new engine for Cessna.

No one was hurt when the Cessna 182 made an emergency landing shortly before 6:00 p.m.

In a May 22, 2013 news release Cessna said, "the aircraft has the distinction of being the first modern single engine aircraft powered by a piston engine specifically designed to run on Jet-A fuel." Avgas is becoming more scarce and expensive.

Cessna spokesperson Andy Woodward said it is too early to speculate on the cause of the emergency landing.
