About a dozen recently laid-off workers of Spirit AeroSystems attended the Sedgwick County Commission this morning.
SPEEA union members urged local government leaders to support efforts to grow the Wichita aerospace industry.
"We have some of the best engineers, aerospace professionals, manufacturing talent in the world, right here in Wichita, and (are) available to any businesses that would come to the community," said Bob Brewer, SPEEA Midwest Director.
The group also addressed the Wichita City Council yesterday.
SPEEA-represented employees who were recently laid-off will distribute fliers outside Spirit on Thursday from 6-8 a.m.
