WICHITA, Kan. - A Delta Air Lines flight made a safe emergency landing in Wichita Sunday night, after the pilot reported trouble with the plane's flaps.

Delta Flight 1082 was a scheduled flight from Atlanta. It left more than two hours late, due to what the pilot told passengers was a hydraulic problem. Then as the MD-88 circled Mid-Continent Airport, the pilot reported another problem.

"He said to prepare for an emergency landing," said passenger Ashlee Alley of Winfield. "We were told to expect to see fire trucks and sirens and those sorts of things."

Alley said the announcement was "scary," but the pilot made a smooth landing at 10:38 p.m. with no reported injuries. "It was great.... Everyone clapped for the pilot," she said.

Cab driver Jason Wood came upon the scene, and for a moment was concerned there was something related to Friday's terror bomb plot arrest. He expressed thanks Wichita doesn't have a bigger airport, with more security concerns.
