Airbus has broken ground on a new assembly plant in Mobile, Alabama.
The Brookley Airfield complex is expected to employ around 1,000 workers who will help build the Airbus A320. Workers will also help assemble the A319 and A321.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2015. the company hopes to have its first plane ready for delivery by 2016.
The Mobile plant is the company's first U.S.-based production facility.
