Eight baggage handlers are arrested for stealing items from luggage at Lambert Airport in St. Louis. The arrests were announced Thursday. Formal charges have not been filed.

Airport Police Chief Paul Mason says the workers were employed
by St. Louis-based Huntleigh USA. Mason says the workers rifled
through bags before they were placed on outbound Delta Airlines
flights.

Stolen items include laptops, video games, iPods, CDs, even
cologne. All told, about 900 items have been recovered.

Lambert police are trying to find the owners of the stolen
property.

Huntleigh USA's chief executive officer says the employees have
been fired. CEO Richard Sporn says the company cooperated fully
with the investigation and is eager to see the suspects brought to
justice.
