CATTLE
Direct Trade:
In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,
Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; trading in the Texas

Panhandle has been active with good demand with live sales 2.50 higher. In
Kansas trading has been moderate on good demand with live and dressed sales 3.00

higher. The Northern Plains and Western Cornbelt reported light cleanup trade.
Steers: Live basis: (all Grades: 29,193 head) 88.50-92.50, weighted average
91.69. Dressed basis; (all Grades: 2,523 head) 143.00-145.00, weighted average
144.46. Heifers: Live basis; (all Grades: 22,831 head) 90.00-92.50, weighted
average 91.51. Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 2,821 head) 143.00-145.00, weighted
average 144.75.

For the week: Texas/Oklahoma/New Mexico live sales 2.50 higher at 92.00. Kansas

live sales 3.00 higher at 92.00 and dressed sales 3.00 higher, on a light test,
at 145.00. Nebraska dressed sales 5.00 higher at 145.00 and live sales 2.00-
3.00 higher at 90.00. Colorado live sales 2.50-3.00 higher from 91.00-91.50 and

dressed sales sold 4.00 higher, on a light test, at 144.00. Iowa/Minnesota
dressed sales 5.00 higher from 144.00-145.00 and live sold 2.00-3.00 higher from

89.00-90.00.

Auction Markets:
New Holland Sales Stables Cattle and Calf Auction Report for Thursday
No trend available from last week due to a weather related sale cancellation.

When compared to the most recent market established two weeks ago, slaughter
steers and heifers sold firm with very good demand.
Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 2-3: 1220-1580 lbs 89.00-92.00; 1610-

1725 lbs 86.50-88.00. Choice 2-3: 1170-1490 lbs 85.00-88.00, full 1430-1660 lbs

82.00-84.00. Select 1-3: 1110-1310 lbs 81.00-84.00.
Slaughter Heifers: High Choice and Prime 2-3: 1205-1480 lbs 85.00-87.50.

The average live weight of cattle slaughtered in the Texas Panhandle for the
week ending 02-13-2010 was 1233 lbs with 36 percent heifers compared to 1236 lbs

and 43 percent heifers the previous week and 1264 lbs and 38 percent heifers the

same week a year ago.

Dressed Basis: The direct hog trade prices are based on 185 lbs hog carcass
with 0.9-1.1 inch back fat and 6 inch square loin/2.0 inch depth plant
delivered. National direct trade barrows and gilts 1.35 higher at 58.00-67.57,
weighted average 65.86. Iowa-Minnesota 1.64 higher at 58.00-67.57, weighted
average 66.59. Western Cornbelt 1.51 higher at 58.00-67.57, weighted average
66.47 and Eastern Cornbelt .27 higher at 61.00-65.50, weighted average 63.78.

Live Basis (240-280 lbs): National direct barrows and gilt .58 higher at
46.98-54.00, weighted average 52.31. Iowa-Minnesota 1.01 higher at 47.85-54.00,

weighted average 52.74. Western Cornbelt .73 higher at 47.25-54.00, weighted
