Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has created a new coalition charged with increasing youth appreciation of nature.
By executive order announced Monday, Sebelius created the Kansas Coalition for Children in Nature. The group will promote outdoor learning experiences and environmental learning for young Kansans.
The coalition will include members from the several state agencies, including education, health and environment and agriculture. Other members will be chosen from environmental, business and wildlife organizations.
The executive order requires the coalition to present its plans and status report to the governor by Jan. 10, 2011.
