A Missouri woman faces up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty in a plot to steal a pregnant teenager's unborn child.

Eighteen-year-old Alisa Betts, of Atchison, Missouri pleaded guilty yesterday in Jackson County Circuit Court to kidnapping and first-degree assault. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed a third charge of felonious restraint.

Sentencing is Nov. 14th. Betts faces up to 15 years in prison on each count.

Her co-defendant, Lauren Gash, pleaded guilty in July to kidnapping, assault and felonious restraint. She was sentenced in August to eight years in prison.

Betts was allegedly involved in an attack last year on Amanda Howard, then 18. Prosecutors say the women had met the teen on the Internet and lured her from her home in Clinton.

They say the two then took the teen to a Blue Springs motel, but their plan to take her unborn baby was stopped after Betts got cold feet and called police.
