In this week's "Money Matters," we are taking a look at four home improvements that aren't worth your money or your time.
According to investopedia.com they are:
1. "Over the top improvements"- Before you invest tons of money in an elaborate full house renovation project consider what competing properties in your neighborhood have to offer. If those upgrades greatly exceed what other homes on the bock have, you may wind up losing money.
2. Swimming pools- They rarely add value to a home. That's because many people regard in-ground pools as a high maintenance hassle and safety hazard.
3. Replacing a popular feature - It may sound like a good idea to turn the garage into a spare bedroom, but if every house on the block has a garage and yours doesn't it could be a turn-off.
4. "Daring designs" - You may want to show off your unique style. But, if your decor choices are too bold that may send potential buyers dashing out the door.
