Sprint Corp. is working with the startup accelerator firm TechStars to spur the growth of mobile technology innovations that can improve health care.

Overland Park-based Sprint said in a news release it's looking for leaders of early-stage mobile technology companies to participate in the Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator.

The first class will begin in March and last three months. Participants in the intensive mentorship program also will receive up to $120,000 in funding.

Sprint vice president of development Kevin McGinnis said in a statement that the Kansas City area is "gaining recognition on the national level as an emerging entrepreneurial technology center." He says he believes the Sprint Accelerator will contribute to the region's success.
