Next year's Wichita city budget totals more than $543 million. Wednesday night's Powerball jackpot isn't far from it.
You could win $400 million in the 10:00 p.m. drawing for Powerball, which is the fifth-largest ever in the U.S. Only six weeks ago, three winning tickets were sold for a $425 million dollar Powerball prize. But no one has matched all six numbers since then.
The $400 million amount is paid over a series of years. If you take the one-time cash option, you'd still receive more than $223 million.
As for the Mega Millions game, no one hit that jackpot Tuesday night. It's going up to $145 million for Friday's drawing. And the rules for that game are about to change, to match the Powerball fever.
