No doubt you noticed the record gas prices over the labor day holiday.
AAA reports gas prices up 27 cents a gallon in Kansas over the past month. And while AAA expects the price to gradually come down some, it just makes sense to try and get the best buy at the pump.
If you own a smartphone, there are a number of apps to help you find the cheapest gas.
Apps like Gas Buddy may list stations in your area. But AAA's app is very intuitive. When you open up AAA's Trip Tik, yo'll see options at the bottom for hotels, restaurants, and gas stations. Touch on the little pump sign and it will show you the stations in your area - or you can put your zipcode in the search box.
When you touch on one of the pumps on the map, it gives you the name of the station and the current price of regular unleaded. Touch on the arrow to the right of the station and you'll see a screen with the information you need, including the station's location, phone number, and gas price. You can even hit the directions tap on the bottom and the map will show you how to get to that gas station.
Finding the cheapest gas price has never been so easy. Now if only there were an app to lower the price at the pump when you needed it to - that would be fantastic.
