Today in money matters, when your grocery bill starts to explode what can you do?
If you don't have the dedication for coupon clipping or the time for cooking from scratch, you might try buying more store brands rather than pay premium for brand name products. Gary Foreman of U.S. News and World Reports says there are ways to make sure store brands work for you.
Here are some of the ways you can save as much as 25% at the store.
1. Start with paper goods and plastics.
There's only so much you can like about a paper towel brand. these are the easiest products to introduce to your family.
2. Compare labels.
You're already considering changing brands, making now the perfect time to compare labels.
3. Contact your favorite brand manufacturer.
They may sell the same product under a different store label. call them and ask them if they produce other brands. check the name brand label for a phone number or email address.
4. Set up a taste test.
Have your family do a blind taste test to decide which brand they like best.
5. Plan to revisit your choices.
New products are being introduced all the time so check out the new ones and see how your family likes them.
