Navigational device maker Garmin Ltd.'s oft-delayed wireless phone is finally going on sale.
Cayman Islands-based Garmin, which has its headquarters in suburban Kansas City, said Friday its nuvifone G60 will go on sale in Taiwan on Monday and in Singapore and Malaysia by the end of August. The company also plans to release the more advanced nuvifone M20 in August in those countries.
Garmin is releasing the nuvifone in partnership with Taiwan-based Asustek Computer Inc.
The companies said they still expect to release North American versions of the phones in the second half of 2009. The nuvifone was originally unveiled last year but has been repeatedly delayed over technical issues and negotiations with wireless providers to carry the device.
