Crude inventories and gasoline stockpiles are reported on the rise, as demand for motor fuel fell slightly, according to fresh government data.

The Energy Department says crude inventories rose 2.8 million barrels, some 15.5% above year-ago levels.

Gasoline supplies rose by 2.2 million barrels, reported 1% above year-ago levels.

Demand for gasoline over the previous month was 0.2% lower than a year earlier, averaging 9 million barrels a day.
