The eight-game winning streak is now the second-longest in team history. Wichita has also won a team-best six consecutive road games.
Tied at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, Mitch Einertson led off with a single down the left field line. C.J. Ziegler put the Wingnuts ahead for the remainder of the night with a long double to right-center that scored Einertson from first base. After Wichita loaded the bases, Salomon Manriquez grounded into a double play that scored Ziegler from third with the Wingnuts' third run. Later in the inning, a wild pitch ushered in David Peralta to make it 4-1.
Wichita broke the game open with a six-run top of the fifth. Einertson walked with one out. On a groundball to shortstop by Ziegler, Zach Penprase attempted to force out Einertson at second, but threw the ball into right field. With second and third and still one out, Peralta grounded a single through the middle of a drawn-in infield to give the Wingnuts a 6-1 lead. Steve Carrillo walked to put runners on first and second, and then Manriquez singled through the left side to plate Peralta.
Mike Conroy followed Manriquez with an RBI single up the middle that brought in Carrillo. An error by third baseman Enrique Cruz loaded the bases and allowed a passed ball to score Manriquez. Jake Kahaulelio made it 10-1 with a groundout to short.
Fargo scratched out two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a Penprase RBI double and a Nic Jackson sacrifice fly, but RBI singles from Peralta and Manriquez in the top of the sixth extended the Wingnuts' lead back to nine runs.
Aharon Eggleston hit a solo home run in the seventh, while Ryan Delgado hit a two-run shot in the eighth for the RedHawks' final runs.
Josh Lowey improved to 2-0, allowing six earned runs on nine hits in seven and two-thirds innings. Lowey walked three, struck out four, and has won 13 consecutive decisions dating back to last year.
