Thunder Stay Alive With 4-3 Win In Game 4

Thunder Force Game 5 Winning 4-3 Over Ft. Wayne

Just 19 seconds into the game, Wichita was called for covering the puck up with a closed hand in the crease and the Komets took advantage. Mike Vaskivuo scored on a penalty shot and gave Fort Wayne a 1-0 lead. Wichita tied it at 6:49 with a goal from Daniel Tetrault (4). Chris Chappell made a nice move to the front of the net and Tetrault pounced on a rebound to make it 1-1. The Komets retook the lead at 15:50 with a power play goal. Daniel Maggio put a shot on net from the blue line and Chris Auger got a piece of it in front to make it 2-1, Komets. With less than 30 seconds remaining in the opening period, Matt Summers (4) caught a pass from Chris Greene and beat Boucher to tie it back up at two.

Each team struck in the second period with the Komets regaining the lead at 5:52. Jean-Michel Rizk caught a pass in the deep slot, split two defenders and scored to make it 3-2. Wichita answered at 13:40 when Aaron Davis caught a Thomas Beauregard pass up the left wing and blasted a slap shot past Nick Boucher to tie it at three. Through the first two periods, there were three lead changes.

With 9:50 remaining in the third, Davis fed a pass over to Beauregard (7) at the right wing circle and put a wrist shot past Boucher to give Wichita its first lead of the game, 4-3. The Thunder held off a late charge by the Komets, who finished the game with a six-on-four power play while pulling their goalie. The puck grazed the post with five seconds left and the Thunder hung on for the 4-3 win.

Thomas Beauregard, Aaron Davis and Matt Summers each finished with two points (1g, 1a) and Bryan Hogan earned his first professional playoff win, making 36 saves on 39 shots.

Wichita went 1-for-6 with the man advantage while the Komets went 2-for-8.

Wichita stays alive in the series and will have a chance to extend the Finals back to the Air Capital on Monday night. Game 5 will take place from the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at 6:30 p.m. central time. If the Thunder can win, they will play Game 6 back in Wichita on the following Friday.
