Now we know why they want rate increases, $35million dollar excuse and I'd be willing to bet that these new meters will actually increase our water bills.... Don't know how many meter readers are employed but these electronic meters being read by computers will eliminate those meter reader jobs!!!! Everyone worries about jobs being sent overseas but just look around here and see all of the jobs being eliminated everytime a new computerized system is put in place in any business!!!!

The new meters will provide for a more accurate and EXPENSIVE reading...of course in a few years they will malfunction and have to be replaced..causing our rates to increase yet again.

I'm still trying to figure out why I have to pay to use the water and for waste water runoff... Kind of sounds like somebody is double dipping, and nobody likes a double dipper.

$36 million over the next five year is what I read. Have fun with that.

My mother in law works in City Hall and has told me horror stories of the meter readers hiding in closets and randomly entering numbers into thier devices to avoid actually walking. That being said, Westar put an electronic/RF meter on my house two months ago and haven't read it right since.

Free huh? NOTHING is "free"...everyone will be paying for these stupid meters in the way of HIGHER water bills! What a waste of money!
