KIM I'm so sorry this happened to Kevin. I have spent so many yrs wishing he could pull his life out of the bottle because I truly knew he could do better without it in his life. I hope that the people affected by the accident will recover. God Bless.

I am Kevin's Sister. First I would like to thank those of you who were there and helped. And to say that the other driver is doing well and will make a full recovery. Cousin if you have questions you need to talk to me. I will answer some of the questions your asking. 1. He was killed on impact and they wouldnt have been able to get him out of the car. 2. No one knows or will ever know why he had his lights off. 3.I would hope that this accident serves as a lessen to ANYONE that has ever thought it was ok to get into a car and drive after drinking even one drink. I have asked that his car be used as a tool to show what can happen when you drink and drive if just one person see it and doesnt drink and drive then it will have been worth it. Again I say thank you to everyone that help that night you all heros in my eyes.

I am sorry about your cousin. It did not appear that he suffered; but death was pretty instant. I am also sorry his actions caused your family to drift apart and not keep in contact.

In response to Anonymous on July 3, 2012 at 4:24 PM: It was pretty obvious the driver who had no headlights was already deceased. It is unknown if the driver was drunk; but he intentionally turned out his headlights and drove into the oncoming lane; as he had done several times prior to the accident.

I have a few questions was the man that caused the crash drunk or did he just forget to turn lights on? and why didn't anyone try and help him out?

The anonymous july 2,2012 at 11:01 PM is entirely acccurate. I was one of the guys that helped that was the first west bound on scene. As far as John the semi driver...I don't even think you are who u say u are cuz i sincerely doubt mr. truck driver got on here to make a comment and to seemed too personal so I think John the semi driver is a poser... You should be ashamed. I didn't make a statement cuz it was irellevant. I was proud to have an opportunity to give something big to someone and it was a team effort. Thank u Mr. anonymous. Your a true man unlike this kid. smh

I don't doubt that the 19 year old kid from Augusta, KS was present and very well may be a witness to the accident. But there are some discrepencies to his story. He DID NOT pull the victim out of the burning SUV; as several other guys present and can attest that were attempting to lift and/or move the vehicle in such a way to free the victim; as it was laying on the drivers side. A female bystander was asked to helped the victim out as the other guys were lifting and attempting to move the SUV. The ones reporting this to the news reporters had better have their facts straight before they are subpoenaed into court to tell this story under oath, and take the risk of a perjury charge. Not one individual was a hero in this rescue; there were several!

nobody climbed in the vehicle. the vehicle was laying on its drivers side so we pushed the vehicle up so the man could crawl out the driver window. The van did burst into flames within a minute of helping the man out.

The suv was on fire the whole time Cole was rescueing the man and then blew up seconds after Cole got him out. Then the car that caused the wreck where the gentle men died, caught on fire from the explosion of the suv that Cole was rescuing the man from.
