Red Cross Sends More Volunteers To Colorado

Reporter: KAKE News

Saturday, June 30, 2012

More Kansas volunteers will be assisting with the Colorado wildfires. Four volunteers were set to leave from the Midway-Kansas Chapter on 1900 E. Douglas on today at 11:00 a.m. These volunteers will add to the eight that are already deployed in the area.

The Colorado wildfires are part of a larger Red Cross response across the country. More than 275 trained disaster workers are helping in Colorado. Red Cross is also helping in Florida after massive flooding from Tropical Depression Debby.

Meanwhile, Red Cross is actively recruiting for a national shortage of lifesaving blood.

The public is encouraged to help by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by visiting the web link provided to make a donation or schedule a blood donation.
