If the bag guy????????
Posted by: Pat on Jun 26, 2012 at 04:35 AM

Yep. That's it. Total anarchy, that's what we want. Back to reality, the pursuit caused another innocent to get hurt (again) and YOU and I are going to pay for this (again). Juan's paying for it right now, huh? Look on (Most Dangerous Criminals) or any show like it...the cops are high as hell on natural adrenaline...this is their drug of choice. How many of these chases are accompanied by a helicopter? Common sense dictates you back off the chase (slow down) and let the chopper follow the suspect. There was no chopper in this case, but you get the point. If the suspect is not a violent hardcore felon then let him go instead of endangering thousands of innocent lives. If you notice, there is an us-and-them mentality between citizens and police, mainly because the government has been militarizing our police force. Anarchy is a cleansing process, as well as a political ideal. You can't have just a little anarchy.

Yeah and just think what it would do to the birthday party if her father dies. ....ruin the whole celebration.

This is not new for her. Crystal, if you are reading this, for the love of God stop. Just stop.

And I am thinking people run from police because they're sitting in car "that was reported stolen after a felony robbery last week". However I agree with you that we need much stronger penalties for this kind of dangerous nonsense. Better yet; shoot the driver in situ with extreme prejudice.

THIS ISN'T A BOURNE MOVIE, YOU'RE NOT BRUCE WILLIS. STOP RUNNING FROM THE POLICE. GRAND THEFT AUTO IS A VIDEO GAME!!! IDIOTS
Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 25, 2012 at 11:48 AM

I am thinking people run from the police partly because they panic, and partly because, as happens in the movies, they think they can get away with it. The related law and the one about seatbelt use both need more teeth in them.

Till they put teeth into the law, like 5 years manditory no good time off, just for the fleeing charge this will continue. Before you start in on taxes I'd rather my money go to this than a quarter of those on welfare who REALLY DO NOT NEED IT.

This is by no means the fault of the police or the young man Juan. He is in my prayers. I hope he recovers quickly.
Posted by: cas Location: wichita on Jun 25, 2012 at 10:07 AM

Can you imagine a society where the criminal can get away from the police as easy as getting into a car and driving fast? Police would never be able to catch anyone. Or if the police sees a criminal with a weapon, they could not chase him.. maybe he might hurt an innocent bystander with that weapon. Better just to let that criminal go free... right? The ones who say police should not chase someone who is trying to evade capture, are the ones who want total anarchy.

Wow, how sad... Sure hope you get well soon Juan!!! Praying for a speedy recovery. Hope those idiots get locked up for their carelessness.

Some of these comments are brutal
The family and friends could care less abt a plan b and how it may or may not they just want their lived one to be okay. And you who post is just how it is and what happens must have never had someone close to you severely injured at someone else's cost. Where's the love, empathy and prayers? Easy for those to say sh@t happens til it happens to them or their family. Juan, Juan's family and friends ...I am sorry for what y'all are going through. My prayers are with you.

Juan Santiago...a very wealthy man now, at taxpayers' expense.
Posted by: anonymous on Jun 24, 2012 at 08:06 AM

The fact the idiot runs, is in itself dangerous, so at what point is it "too dangerous" some of these wrecks happen seconds after the chase starts, some chases end without anyone else being hurt. It's always easier to judge after the fact.
Posted by: Pat on Jun 24, 2012 at 04:45 AM

They are supposed to shut down the pursuit if it becomes too dangerous, but tell that to Keystone Larry who has had too much adrenaline for dinner and how dare they not respect his athouritay!
