Can I get an AMEN!!

We did leave her alone, and that's why we're being blamed. Does anyone want to socialize with and look after someone that curses at their children and makes a joke of their neighborhood? It is embarrassing that people know I live by this person. But thank you for your comment :)

Well said!It is that woman's fault and let me say 69 years old is not that old. A lot of people still hold a job at that age. If you can't take care of the animals than don't get any.The poor old woman thing just doesn't work for me!

flat out no matter her intensions or hoarding issues, it is still animal abuse and she needs to be charged for every cat and dog she had in her care.

What if the police never found out about the dead animals? Is that old lady still a saint even though she is very rude and mean to fellow neighbors for years? She swears like a pirate and because of her age no one complained. She does not respect other peoples property and because the house is filled with garbage, she suddenly has a mental disorder that excuses it?

She gets social security, section 4 housing and food stamps. Our taxes pay for the rent so there was no reason for owners to check up on it.

NO ONE should blame you or any of the neighbors - that is completely ridiculous! At the same time, she didn't plan it this way. I'm sure it happened gradually. I hope you leave her alone as she deserves to be left alone.

The whole thing is terrible and I'm not a holy roller but if the world would go back 20 yrs. and help their fellow man and care for their elderly with care and respect this wouldn't of happen. If when the other person moved out for health reason - the house was checked for health but it wasn't. If family or a neighbor would have gotten close and checked more closely especially when pets disappeared this wouldn't have happen. So yes it was wrong - the lady was wrong but she is NOT the only one responsible for this problem NO. The neighbors may say they couldn't imagine what was going on, all I can say do we not have eyes and ears and a sense of smell. The owners of property should have done a call on all the rental property. So should all landlords. We are all part of a community and therefore it is the community problem and the community flailed the animals and more importantly the people in this story. NO ONE step up to the plate and the result is what is in the news. Once again the society of humans failed one of their own and well as the animals.

you guys are idiots to blame neighbors, that's what is wrong with today's society, everybody blames everyone else instead of putting the blame where it lies on the woman that lived there, she knew she left animals there to die, it is her responsibility and no one else's and those poor animals paid the price for her irresponsibility I don't care how old she is, actually her age goes against her, she is old enough to know better!! My god, I'm guessing that you're raising your children to blame everyone else for things that happen instead of themselves and if that is the way you live then God help you and please for any animal's sake never own one!
Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 20, 2012 at 07:02 AM

and the consequences for leaving those poor pets to fend for themselves and ultimately starving to death is what?? the promise to clean up the house, I think not, those poor animals deserve some justice but hey this is Wichita the city of no consequences but a slap on the wrist and the promise not to do it again. Shame,

If she were renting, where were the owners? Why weren't they dropping by occasionally?

Crystal, I agree with you. You know, BTK has mental problems too, so we should get together and petition for his release... oh, and the carr brothers as well. It will be fun, we can all hold hands and dance in the park :) <3

That old lady didn't even own the house, she was a renter. What if they caught her 30 years ago when she was just as filthy, horrible, mean, and still had many dead animals on the floor of her bedroom, would she still get your pity? Do you realize many many homes in poor neighborhoods in Wichita are just as filthy but do not have dead animals anywhere? Does a rottnn person hold no accountability just because they have gotten away with it for so many years?
