Merry medallion hunters have scoured the streets of Wichita for the past week, looking for a piece of plastic.
But the quest was worth a brand-new car.
The journey came to an end for an avid hunter Friday. Greg Ferris and his team found the medallion at Air Capital Park, in west Wichita.
“The one that directed us here was the ‘before seven is gone’ clue,” Ferris said. “That was the B-47 that use to sit on this park and then it was gone.
Ferris, a friend and their sons left no stone unturned.
“The only reason I found it was I looked at this rock,” he said. “It was kind of a different rock.” Ferris said he hooked the rock with his golf club and pulled the medallion out.
Ferris said he alerted others in the park about his prized possession.
“There was a bunch of people around and I said ‘you can stop looking because I just found it,’” Ferris said.
It was the fifth time he and his team have found the medallion. They plan to sell the car and split the profits.
