Rick...have you been in their apartment? Maybe it was an upper floor apartment, so there goes going out the window. Maybe the window was painted or nailed shut. There are a number of possibilities in this scenario. To say the kid should have been able to escape or ask for help is ludicrous. Place the blame where it belongs...on the ADULT. That said, there are an awful lot of details that are unknown. Would like hear more of them before judging anyone on this.

Okay hold on witch hunters. How do you know he is not lying on his mother. In four months he had to be eating something or he would be dead by now. You noticed they did not list his weight on the news story. My son is 13 teen and sometimes I feel like locking him up in his room to keep the community safe. My son has been expelled from two schools this year and is currently on probation for sexual assault on two female students. I can not get the state to help me because of his age. the laws are messed up and until we know the whole story we should not be so quick to judge.

What did the son do that started this? This did go way too far. No one deserves to be starved. Discipline, yes Abuse, no. She crossed the line.

bedrooms have a window. If it was as that bad he could have left or opened it to ask for help.

Punishment is meant to correct behavior issues in a child - but evil torcher is a reflection of the person issuing its own heart- just looking at her one can see she could very easily Do what she's being accused of- teens are tuff - but there are better methods of guidance and correcting bad behavior- I hope they throw the book at her!!!

First you can't spank. Now you can't ground or send your child to their room without dinner when they refuse to eat what you fixed. What is this world coming to? It is only going to get worse.

...my parents "kidnapped" me all through my childhood I guess then...I turned out alright...however...they did feed me...There's nothing so terrible that a youngster could possibly do that would deserve withholding food. This "mama" apparently didn't have a good relationship with her child to begin with. I don't understand how a "mother" can do that to her own. I hope the young man is going to be alright.

This mother should be confined to a cell for 3 to 5 years and not be allowed to ever see her son again regardless of what he may have said or done,

What is wrong with you people? Of course he had issues. He is 13 and has a mother that locks him in his room and doesn't feed him. She is the one with the issues. She is the adult in the situation, and a 13-year old boy is bound to need discipline. What a terrible way to carry it out. Kidnapping, neglect, abuse, it all applies here. This lady needs to be punished for treating her son that way. How can you starve somebody as punishment? So wrong, and i hope she gets put behind bars.

I would say the boy probably had some issues. At least she didn't beat him.

I can see the abuse charge if the mom didn't feed her son properly. I think it is a long stretch to consider kidnapping for being grounded to your room. And aggravated battery for what???
