I couldnt agree with you more papa, Loud pipes Don't save lives! Focused riding, DOT approved Helmes, and Bright colors alongs with the Other protective gear is what helps save lives! Not to mention there is a place in town that offers exp. rider classes and advanced rider classes to those who want to increase their skills and maybe bring down their risk taking levels.

I get that its not always the people in cars. However, when I am riding right next to a soccer mom in an SUV on her cell phone and she tries to come into my lane without looking, it is her fault. I have had this happen on numerous occasions and I was doing the speed limit right next to them. When I honk or rev my motor they flip me off and act like its my fault. Or how about the ungodly amount of vehicles I have had pull out in front of me? Not my fault. As I have said, its not always the cars fault but when it is (like the examples listed) it is not only the lack of overall attention they are paying to their surroundings but they are not even looking for motorcycles. Hence the importance of raising awareness.

Guess what Ozzy, everyone on the road is endangered by bad drivers. Some of us choose to operate safe motor vehicles rather than inherently dangerous vehicles. That way when some inattentive kook runs a red light the occupants of a safe motor vehicles stands a chance of survival, The trouble with your very typical biker mentality is you expect everyone in the world to be responsible for your safety. That is everyone but you. The typical clueless biker of today is under the impression that all you need to ensure their safety is loud pipes and a bad attitude. Sorry my confused friend; sobriety, heads-up riding, real helmets, and bright colors save lives. Loud pipes don't do a thing to get you home in one piece.

Depends on whether you can see and pay attention to things around you. My headlights are always on, my motocycles have more visible lights on them than your car does. Now all you have to do is acknowledge that our motorcycles have the same rights to use the road as your car does. The biggest difference is that in a 30 mph collision, you get hit in a car, you will probably survive, I probably WONT, or if i do, i will never be the same...

No one said i am "that worried" Jeremy. Maybe some riding lessons for you so you can see how careless so many drivers can be, both motorcycle and car. and possibly reading glasses as well?

*sell* your bike. You're welcome.

Your Cycles might be nearly the size of a small car, but it isn't as visible by a long shot. They are real narrow and can easily be in a blind spot. Even small cars get lost in a blind spot easily. When I rode I rode with the attitude that everybody was out to get me and it saved me several times. On the other hand riders seem to think that speeding and weaving in and out of traffic is just fine and don't take into consideration that it is easy to lose track of a cycle. The part about the running stop signs and being on their cell phones is the same problem that everybody else has, so it isn't just the problem of riders.

Sounds like ozzy needs a kleenex. If your that worried sale your bike. If someone gets into an accident they should not be charged with murder unless they are breaking the law while the accident occurs.

If the police want to make an impact and raise awareness show up at K-96 and Greenwich on any nice night and watch them race for hours. It's actually pretty annoying, I wish the police would give them some attention and raise their "awareness".

No, the circunstances you listed don't always make it the cars fault. Like you said some of the riders treat the street like their personal racetrack.

Let me know how that works out.

Motorcycle safety. BAN THEM.
Posted by: Dana on Apr 30, 2012 at 05:50 PM

The only problem with that is many motorcycle riders think they own the road. You may be a responsible rider but there are many that are not. If the riders want respect from the car drivers, they need to show a little respect themselves. I have had riders come up beside me and pass me on the right. They think because they are small that they can weave in & out of traffic and travel over the speed limit. How many of these motorcycle accidents have been reported as the rider was speeding? It's not always caused by people in cars.

Law abiding citizens needs to get their gun permits along with their motorcycles, that way if anyone tries to steal it then they should shoot the crook in the legs.

I like how the other person talked about it was their responsibility as well as the person on the bike. Too often people blame the rider for the accident. If you pull out in front of another vehicle/bike it is your fault. If you go to switch lanes and you side swipe another vehicle/bike it is your fault. Not every person on a bike is riding like its a race track. Some are simply trying to go home after a long day at work. Its time people in cars are held more accountable instead of pawning it off on the rider.
