Wichita police are searching for a man they say led officers on a high-speed chase that caused the death of his motorcycle passenger. Joshua Wynn, 22, is wanted by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office on charges of first degree murder.

In September 2011, investigators say officers tried to pull over Wynn, who was driving a motorcycle with 19-year-old passenger Mallory Scofield, but he sped away and a chase began. That chase was called off after it reached excessive speeds, but officers later spotted the motorcycle near K-42 and Pawnee Street and a second chase began.

Deputies called off that chase when it reached speeds near 100 miles per hour but the motorcycle crashed near the intersection of 135th Street West and Hayden Street. The motorcycle hit a curb and both Wynn and Scofield were ejected. Wynn was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and Scofield died in the crash.

Wynn is described as a 22-year-old white man, 5'10" tall, weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his neck, chest, back and both arms. He was last known to be living in the Wichita area.

Anyone with information about Wynn's whereabouts is urged to contact the Sedgwick County Sheriffs Office at 1-800-874-6449 or you can call Crime Stoppers at 267-2111. You can also submit a tip from your mobile phone by texting TIP217, then your message to CRIMES (274637). All ways are secure and anonymous. If your tip leads to an arrest you may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000, and Crime Stoppers will never ask your name.
