Now, what they don't tell you is how many jobs it will cost in the long run. And have you seen the size of some of those cops, they need to spend more time outside of their cars! And where is this supposed savings going to go. And finally, one person hits a cop car while doing something already illegal, so let's waste more tax dollars to make fatter cops, and to let stupid people keep breaking the law, makes sense to me.

And yet the bar code on the back of the license has the same info as the magnetic strip. So demagnetizing the strip will have no effect.
So that means you will still get a ticket from the system.

Look out for increased traffic enforcement so the city can pay for this tool. I always thought cops got a kick out of making us decipher their writing on tickets... guess their fun is up.

LOL - Why don't they just put debit/credit card machines in their cars? I could be a "one stop" shop et al - ticket & payment and your on your way.. whoop whoop!

Well, I guess if you are going to get a ticket it is best to have it in a hurry and get on with it. This will allow officers to be in more places instead of the 20 mins. it usually takes. If you don't want a ticket, don't speed. I am sick of people flying through this city!

So many cop haters here, I'm sick of the comments about cops need to catch the real criminals etc. I would guess that everyone here can't read a speed limit sign or read the drivers handbook about rules of the road. Simply put, follow the laws and you will be left alone wow that must be something new!

LOL! You scofflaws who negatively comment every time a story comes out about traffic enforcement issues, you give me the warm funny fuzzies. You spit & fume & foam at the mouth, yet the system goes on & when you run afoul of the law you will pay. And I get a great feeling of satisfaction knowing that you A. got caught breaking a law. And B. it sticks in your craw that you have been caught up by the man & his system.

I was pulled over in texas and the state troopers down there had this system, I was given a warning and from the time they hit the lights to when I was on my way it was a total of maybe 4 minutes. It really is a time saver not for the officers but the drivers.

Another solution for the "dumbing down" of yet another occupation. it has long been known that many police officers (as well as non-police officers) have poor handwriting, likely as a result of our "technology advances".
