Two people have been arrested following a police standoff in Hutchinson. Officials say police were called to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Garden Grove Parkway at around 2 a.m. Friday morning.

A woman on the scene told officers another woman forced her into one of the apartments at gunpoint and beat her. The suspect was still inside the apartment. Police tried unsuccessfully to make contact with the woman for several hours. Finally, the suspect and a man left the apartment and were arrested without incident.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Kayla Salyer. Officials say she has been charged with several crimes, including aggravated battery and kidnapping. Her bond is set at $119,500.

The man has been identified as 43-year-old Paul Salyer. He was arrested for parole violation and felony interference with law enforcement.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Hutchinson Police Department at 620-694-2816.

The incident forced authorities to evacuate the apartment complex and relocate residents to a near by church.
