One woman was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene of a house fire in south Wichita early Tuesday morning, but she declined to be taken to a hospital.
Firefighters were called to a home in the 1000 block of South Pattie about 5:50 a.m. and arrived a few minutes later to find smoke and flames coming from the back of the house, said Wichita Fire Department Battalion Chief John Turner.
The woman was the only person inside the house when the fire started, Turner said. A dog who was inside also got out safely.
Turner did not have a dollar estimate for how much damage was done, but about half the house suffered at least some damage. Investigators are still working to determine what started the fire.
