Funeral Services Set For Kansas Teen Killed In Hunting Accident

Funeral services are set for an Onaga teenager killed in a weekend hunting accident.
Authorities confirmed Monday the victim was 15-year-old Mitchell "Gus" Hermreck. The Pottawatomie County sheriff says he was accidentally shot by a friend while hunting Saturday morning in rural Havensville. Hermreck was a freshman at Onaga high school.
A rosary and visitation will be held at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. The funeral service is at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday.
The family has established a memorial fund in his name. Contributions may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O. Box 312, Onaga 66521.

A boy has been killed in a hunting accident in Pottawatomie County, and investigators say there are no signs of foul play.
Sheriff Greg Riat says the accident was reported around 7:15 a.m. Saturday in the northeast part of the county. The boy was taken from the scene to a local hospital, where he died from a gunshot wound.
The victim's identity and age weren't being released Saturday. Riat says more details about the accident will be released at a later date.
