Judge Releases 911 Tape In Hudson Family Slayings

Reporter: Associated Press

Monday, April 30, 2012

A judge in Chicago has released the 911 tape of the call Jennifer Hudson's sister made after finding their mother's body.

William Balfour is accused of killing the Oscar winning actress' mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. The judge hearing Balfour's case agreed Monday to release the recording of Julia Hudson's call at the request of several media outlets.

On the tape, Julia Hudson begs a dispatcher for help after finding her mother shot dead inside the family's home on Chicago's South Side.

In releasing the tape, Cook County Judge Charles Burns said there's no evidence Balfour's due process rights would be harmed.

Balfour has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in the October 2008 killings. The tape already has been played for jurors at his trial.
