Kansas Man Killed In Accident Identified

A Kansas man has died after being hurt in an accident in Ottawa County. Kansas Highway Patrol officials say the accident happened Friday just before 1:30 p.m. on Highway 81 about a mile east of Minneapolis.

Investigators say Sidney Johnson, 72, of Bennington, was driving southbound on U81 when something caused him to drift off the road. Johnson over corrected and rolled his car into a ditch.

A KHP accident report shows Johnson and a passenger were both hurt in the accident. Johnson later died from his injuries. His passenger, Charles Salo, 58, of Wichita, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
