Southwest Plane Diverted To Wichita

Reporter: KAKE News

Sunday, April 22, 2012

A Southwest Airlines plane heading from Kansas City to Albuquerque had to be diverted to Wichita Sunday afternoon after an apparent mechanical malfunction.

SWA spokesman Brad Hawkins says the captain of Flight 329 noticed a slight vibration after the plane left Kansas City. In an abundance of caution, the flight crew made the decision to land the plane in Wichita.

A replacement plane was dispatched from Dallas and the full flight of 136 passengers and five crew members landed in Albuquerque about two hours after their scheduled arrival.

Mechanics are inspecting the plane to determine what caused the vibration. Hawkins says safety is the airline's top priority.
