Muscular Dystrophy Association Show Leaving Vegas

Reporter: Associated Press

Friday, April 6, 2012

Last year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association split with comedian and telethon host Jerry Lewis after 44 years. Now, the MDA Labor Day show is leaving Las Vegas.

South Point Hotel Casino marketing chief Tom Mikovits said Friday that after six years, the event is moving to the Los Angeles area.

Hotel owner Michael Gaughan said the show was moving to CBS in Culver City, Calif. Gaughan was unavailable Friday.

MDA spokeswoman Roxan Olivas says that "the show is being put together" and details are pending.

A Lewis spokeswoman says the entertainer is traveling, and probably wouldn't comment about the MDA move.

Lewis lives in Las Vegas. He hasn't spoken publicly about parting ways with the event he hosted from 1966 to 2010.
